Mike and Jared are back at it again. They are joined by FOAMfrat's own Paul Turnquist. We hope you enjoy getting to know him a bit better. Please keep your questions coming! If your question wasn't answered this time we haven't forgotten you, don't worry. The die hard fans can also find us on YouTube with video! Next guest will be our own medical director, Dr. Cynthia Griffin
1) Would love to hear tips and tricks for organization and setup for an RSI scenario when you’re essentially doing it completely by yourself with an EMT in the middle of nowhere with long transport times. Checklists are great but I’d like your take on the physical set up in an ambulance. I literally set all things in order on the bench seat and have my EMT stand with suction and hand me what I ask for. I feel like my on scene times are taking forever and I’d like to be faster. Any tips appreciated. Thanks!
2) I am a big fan of the education that FOAMfrat puts out. I find it very engaging and definitely not the norm for continuing education. I wondered what you predict to be the next “big step” in EMS education?
3) So I'm a registered nurse and paramedic that recently began doing CCT. When we are dispatched to a call I am the primary critical care staff member on the call. My team members are pulled from a 911 car and generally do not have critical care training. I am sometimes staffed with EMTs or sometimes a medic. I am curios to know what tips or suggestions you have learned in transporting ICU patients? For example, do you follow a certain order of operations or have a particular approach for preparing your patient for transport? Imagine you are transporting an intubated septic patient with a spider web of lines/meds/vent etc. How would you progress? Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas.
4) So I was driving the other day with a fairly serious significant other of about 6 months when we drove up on what appeared to be a mild to moderate car crash. Saw a couple people already on cell phones and didn’t stop. I proceeded to get a fresh load of crap from my girlfriend for not stopping. What do you guys think? How do you handle these situations?
